Job Summary

The VP Outsourcing Strategy is responsible for driving the development and execution of a comprehensive enterprise outsourcing strategy for Optimum.   This key role is integral to the company’s operational efficiency, cost management, and long-term business growth through the identification, cultivation, and driving of strong vendor partnerships aligned with the company’s strategic business goals. This leader will act as a strategic thought partner to the organization and within cross-functional leadership teams, including operations, finance, legal, and IT, to drive cost-effective and efficient outsourcing strategies that enhance business performance.  This position reports directly to the Chief Outsourcing Officer.

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the Chief Outsourcing Officer, develop and drive a comprehensive outsourcing strategy for all relevant business operations across the enterprise to enable scalable business growth.

  • Serve as a strategic leader and thought partner on key vendor relationships, ensuring successful new vendor collaborations, and maintenance, and/or improvement of existing partnerships.

  • Lead and collaborate on efforts to support the entire lifecycle of vendor engagements from vendor selection, through RFI and RFP, selection and contracting, and performance monitoring.

  • Lead efforts to identify key areas across the organization for outsourcing opportunities, influencing internal and external stakeholders to deliver partnership objectives around prioritization, budget, and strategic planning.

  • Identify appropriate and adequate vendors to support gaps and complement or expand internal capabilities, ensuring adherence to the allocation strategy, including proper oversight of financial compliance, contracted scope, and additional activities.

  • Proactively and regularly assess outsourced operations, ensuring vendors meet agreed-upon performance metrics; drive continuous improvement initiatives through the identification of trends and systemic issues across vendors and execution of data-driven solutions.  

  • Continuously assess vendor capabilities and internal processes to identify new opportunities for optimization and innovation.

  • Partner with Finance leadership to assess cost-saving opportunities and financial viability of outsourcing initiatives, including oversight of outsourcing budget, ensuring the strategy is cost-effective and generates desired ROI.

  • Drive and support contract negotiations/renegotiations, including MSAs, with functional areas such as Procurement and Finance, making business-critical decisions related to negotiations and escalations; leverage internal and external benchmarking data to drive decision-making and support negotiations.

  • Drive and support issue resolution for interpretation of MSAs, scopes of work, and other contractual documents, developing processes and executing on monitoring of contractual obligations.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the intersection points between key cross-functional partners, such as Procurement, Finance, Outsourcing & Partner Strategy, and other functional teams to facilitate strong collaboration, smooth handoffs, and communication between functions.

  • Collaborate internally and across organizations to ensure alignment of information, best practices, and to standardize processes as applicable.

  • Promote and raise awareness internally regarding the Partner & Outsourcing Strategy function to the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree (MBA is a plus)
  • Minimum of 12+ years’ outsourcing experience, with 8+ years of leadership experience (Cable industry experience preferred)
  • Significant experience overseeing outsourcing operations and negotiating large outsourcing contracts & managing third-party relationships.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, executives, leaders, program/initiative owners, stakeholders, and other audiences, as well as delivering presentations before large audiences
  • Excellent leadership skills, with experience building, developing, and inspiring high-performing teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing abilities, particularly when influencing others who are not in your organization
  • An organized, detail-oriented individual capable of self-managing and multi-tasking in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $178,500.00 - $255,000.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
